Abstract

To expand the market for building thermal insulation materials and improve the energy efficiency of the production of porous glass composites, alternative raw materials are needed that are similar in chemical composition to glass. The ability of silicate masses to foam allows the use of various natural silica-containing materials as silicate raw materials. The synthesis of porous glass-composite materials was carried out according to standard powder technology using diatomite from the Malchevskoye deposit of the Rostov region as the main raw material, with the addition of glycerin and alkali to increase the intensity of pore formation. It has been established that the addition of alkali intensifies the processes of pore formation, an increase in temperature to 900 °C leads to a decrease in the porosity of the resulting glass-composite material, and the introduction of glycerin increases the porosity.
