Abstract

Currently, the issue of treatment of oil-contaminated wastewater is acute. There are many reasons of their pollution: oil and oil products spills transported by sea, accidents at oil refineries, lack of treatment facilities, etc. For the treatment of oil-contaminated wastewater the use of sorbents is relevant. In the present work we propose to use low-liquid carbon material (coke), obtained from vacuum residue, which is the residue of the vacuum block of oil distillation, and hydrolysis lignin. The proposed composition of the carbon sorbent makes it possible to utilize the waste of the woodworking industry, hydrolysis lignin, find a more rational use of coke and become a high-margin product. The obtained sorbent has a high specific surface and sorption capacity, developed porosity, as well as good selectivity. The efficiency (degree of oil product absorption) of such sorbent is 91,3 %. The research results show that the carbon-containing sorbent obtained from low-cost products can be used to eliminate environmental disasters in the form of oil and petroleum product spills.
